What readers asked

Questions about a page here, and what we said back. Ask one at the bottom of any explainer or lesson, and it turns up here once somebody has answered it.

Nothing answered yet. The box is at the bottom of every explainer and every lesson, and it goes to a person rather than into a queue nobody reads.

DOT / THE TRANSLATOR

Somebody asked me once whether I mind being asked the same thing twice. I do not. It is the only part of this job where being asked twice means the page needed fixing.

How this works

Ask about this page and we will answer it here, where the next person can read it too.

Nobody else can answer you, and you cannot answer anybody else. This is not a forum — we would rather say that than run a room we cannot watch at three in the morning.

Your question goes up with the answer and without your name. Nothing identifies you, ever.

If we cannot answer it we will tell you why, and that one stays between us.

Elsewhere

The explainers, where most of these get asked.

Community Experiments, for a question big enough to need testing.

How we know things, for why any of this is written the way it is.
