Lesson 5 of 5

A family conversation

Talking about AI so children stay curious and careful.

Children will use these tools with or without you. The goal is not to forbid it. It is to make checking normal: “How do we know that is right?” — asked often, and cheerfully.

Show your own use. Let them see you edit a draft, catch a mistake, and decide not to use an answer. Children copy what they see far more than what they are told.

Keep the conversation open by keeping it calm. The child who tells you what they tried is the child you can help.

  • Make checking a habit, not a rule.
  • Let them see you use it well.
  • Calm keeps the conversation open.

DOT / THE TRANSLATOR

Curious and careful, not frightened. Frightened children do not ask you about the strange thing they saw online, and you very much want them to ask.

Try it

This week, check one AI answer together and let them find the mistake or confirm the fact. Then talk about how you knew. That conversation is the lesson.

Check: What is the most useful habit to teach a child about AI answers?

Nobody else can answer you, and you cannot answer anybody else. This is not a forum — we would rather say that than run a room we cannot watch at three in the morning.

Your question goes up with the answer and without your name. Nothing identifies you, ever.

If we cannot answer it we will tell you why, and that one stays between us.
